Restaurant Menu Personalisation, Explained
"Personalised menu" sounds as if every guest should see something different. In a restaurant, that is rarely what guests want. They want the same menu, presented in the way that suits them: in their language, filtered for their needs, and aware of what they liked last time.
Five layers of personalisation
1. Language. The guest picks their language once and the whole menu follows, including recommendations. The choice is remembered for next time.
2. Dietary needs. Filters for Vegetarian, Spicy and more, tags on every dish, and allergens shown clearly. Dietary filters.
3. Saved preferences. A signed-in guest can save allergy alerts, which flag matching dishes across the menu, and food preferences such as Vegan, Halal only, Kosher or Low-carb.

4. Memory of past orders. Regulars can reorder a past order in one tap.
5. Recommendations. MenuGPT answers each guest's request with complete options from your menu, and takes a signed-in guest's loyalty status into account.
Personal, not intrusive
The line between thoughtful and creepy is simple: use what the guest chose to share, and nothing they did not. Saved allergies and preferences are things the guest told you. Guessing at someone's habits from data they never offered is not.
- Let guests see and edit what is saved
- Collect marketing consent separately, starting unticked
- Never surprise a guest with information they did not give
First visit vs regular
A first-time guest gets quick picks, the trending row and MenuGPT. A signed-in regular gets the same, plus their allergies, favourites and loyalty status. The menu does not change; the help it offers does.

How to measure it
Look at whether personalised help is used and whether it converts: MenuGPT sessions that end in an order, reorders by regulars, and the dishes flagged by allergy alerts that guests still order safely. Every MenuGPT suggestion is tracked as shown, added or dismissed.
